The History of Odyssey Aircraft

The Birth

Odyssey Aircraft was founded in 1997 by Chadwick Oldenburg, but its roots date back several years earlier. Having been raised a few miles from the Experimental Aircraft Association's Fly-in at Oshkosh, the love of planes started at an early age and Chadwick grew up wanting to be a aircraft designer.

While in High School, Chadwick received a introductory flight lesson as a gift.  He enrolled in ground school soon after and passed the written, but the flight lessons would be delayed until after college.

A few years after graduating with a degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, Chadwick started designing the Valkyrie.

The Designer

Chadwick was born and raised in Appleton, WI. He attended Fox Valley Lutheran High School, having his father as his physics teacher. He attended Purdue University with a major in aerodynamics and a minor in propulsion. After 3 1/2 years, he graduated with a degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. He then attended graduate school with a major in aerodynamics and a minor in aircraft stability and control.

After studying for a semester, Chadwick received a call from K-C Aviation, an aviation company from where he grew up, inquiring if he would be interested in an opening they had for a design engineer. Chadwick took the job, and moved back to Appleton with his newly married wife, Angela. In the position, Chadwick was responsible for ensuring the structural integrity of modifications to business aircraft.

In 1999, Chadwick transferred to the Gulfstream Aerospace facility in Texas.  During the next three years, design work on the Valkyrie slowed as Chadwick went back to school and earned an M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

Currently, Chadwick works as the Principal and Owner of Denarius Wealth Management LLC, an independent Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firm in Wisconin. Prior to starting the Denarius Wealth Management, he was a co-owner and Portfolio Manager at another RIA firm which provided investment advisory services and insurance solutions to individuals, businesses, and non-profit corporations. Chadwick also has extensive experience in large, complex solution development. He lived and worked overseas as a Business and Technology Consultant and as the Deputy Program Manager for the largest integrated, biometric system in the Middle East.

Chadwick is a senior member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
